Hello and welcome to this week’s harmonica lesson, where I will be showing you how to play one of the most famous blues harmonica licks – I’m a Man. We will also be learning some well known variations, which I’m sure you will recognise.
You will need a harmonica in the key of C, and we will be playing in 2nd position in the key of G major.

Hi Tomlin
I’m new to the harmonica and have down your beginers course(thank you)
But I don’t know how to bend the notes yet – what about a lesson on this please
Pete
PS I just done the chugging lesson – great thanks
Hi Pete, here is a lesson on bending – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHKjgn_XJiI
Hey Tomlin,
I’m new at this but I got out my Big River Harp C Hohner and am practicing. Somehow I missed the tab symbol 3 with a down arrow – draw and a cross across the arrow with a 1/2 at the rt of the cross. I can’t figure out what it is but it’s not a regular 3 draw note – sounds different than what your playing. I’ve looked around the net and can’t find it anywhere else. Do you have a key for your tabs? Could it have the same meaning as a similar symbol except with a comma at the rt of the cross . please answer me if you can. Regards Mark
Hi Mark, a tab key is an excellent idea – I will put one together but in the mean time that symbol means a half-step bend on the 3 draw. Hope that helps 🙂
Thx you very much for the lessons.
You are a very painent person and a blessing to many.
Dear tomlin, I wish I could live in Edinburgh. You have changed my old days because you’ve taught me
so much. Eike.
Subscribed this weekend. So glad that I did.
Hey man I’m an old country piano picker old boogie woogie a jerry Lee style to hard core beer drinking country. I’m new to harmonica. You are an unbelievable instructor. You make it so simple understand and the time you take to explain. I really appreciate you doing these lessons. You’re great. It’s also nice to have someone who cares when they teach. I’m 54and a student of yours for life. Look us up on YouTube. The Delmonicos band. Again thank you for what you do. This has helped me understand this simple beautiful instrument. Wanted to play it many years. Some folks won’t share their secrets. I’ve always brought people up on stage and I’ll share any country or contemporary riff I play.
Hi Frank, thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so pleased that you enjoy my lessons and have a similar outlook to me 🙂
