Light and accurate
The key to playing fast on any instrument is making sure that you are playing as accurately and lightly as possible.
If you make mistakes when you are playing something slowly they will get compounded as you speed up. This is why you need to practice playing something slowly before you increase the tempo. Make sure that you get it right every time before pushing yourself.
Making your breath force as light as possible means that you will be able to change direction between draws and blows a lot faster. Indeed, if you tried to take a full breath in then a full breath out each time you would not be able to go faster.
