Hello and welcome to this week’s harmonica lesson, where I will be showing you how to play Just Your Fool by the Rolling Stones. This track comes from their new album – Blue & Lonesome. I definitely recommend you listening to it.
You will need a harmonica in the key of D, and we will be playing in 2nd position in the key of A.

Here are some recordings of me playing each lick for you to hear what they should sound like.

Just what I was looking for! Thanks Tomlin!
Thank you so much for this one Tomlin. I have been enjoying your lessons for several months now, but this is particularly welcome and special as I was given the Blue & Lonesome LP (yes, vinyl!) for my birthday back in November and I have been listening closely to the harmonica playing on all of the tracks where Mick plays and trying to emulate them. This work of yours takes me that step closer a lot quicker! So thank you.
Hopefully you will see fit to follow this up with a couple more from the same album over the coming weeks – they would be most welcome!
Thanks again
Andy
Hi Tomlin,
thanks for this one, I got a copy of Blue and lonesome for Christmas and just your fool is the track that stands out for me. I plan to make a start on learning soon. I was reflecting on how much I have learnt from you already and would like to make a one off contribution, how can I do this?
The new website looks great.
Regards,
Pete
You Rock thanks
Hi Tomlin . Great tune and lesson, I learned the Little Walter version which is slightly different but Mick does a pretty good job of the song. I like a lot of the older stones songs with Brian Jones playing harmonica and was inspired by his playing style. Wish he was still around to do a take on this song.I have picked up a lot of useful info from your site and I thank you for it. Keep up the great work !
Thanks Dan!
