Harmonica Blooper Reel 2017 – My Funniest On-Camera Moments

What better way to end the year than with a few laughs? This week’s post isn’t a lesson—it’s something a little different. I’m sharing my harmonica blooper reel 2017 with you. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at all the mistakes, flubs, and ridiculous moments that didn’t make it into the polished lessons you’ve seen all year.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like filming harmonica tutorials for YouTube every week, here’s a little insight—it involves a lot of swearing at the camera and quite a few “what was I thinking?” moments. But hey, it’s all part of the process.

So before we dive in—thank you. Thank you for watching, learning, laughing, and letting me do what I love. You’ve made 2017 an incredible year.

What Is a Harmonica Blooper Reel Anyway?

A blooper reel is all the stuff that gets cut out. The awkward pauses. The forgotten lines. The harmonica licks that just don’t land right. Basically—it’s me being a total numpty on camera.

This particular reel includes a year’s worth of outtakes from all the videos I filmed in 2017. You’ll see plenty of moments where I forget what I’m saying, hit the wrong note, or just descend into a fit of giggles for no good reason.

It’s honest. It’s messy. And I think you’ll enjoy it.

Why I Made This Reel (And Why You Should Watch It)

I spend a lot of time making sure my videos are clean, clear, and helpful—but the reality is, they don’t always start out that way.

Filming harmonica lessons isn’t glamorous. I mess up. A lot. And I thought it might be fun to share that side of the process with you—to let you in on the behind-the-scenes chaos.

Plus, after a full year of practicing and learning, you deserve a little break. This one’s just for laughs.

Some Favourite Moments From the Reel

Here are a few bloopers I’m slightly embarrassed about—but also kind of proud to share:

  • That time I completely forgot how to count a 12-bar blues progression and just stared at the camera blankly.

  • A particularly expressive vamping demo where I accidentally smacked myself in the head with my own harmonica.

  • The moment I tried to say “boogie woogie rhythm” and it came out “booga wobble”—which actually sounds like a pretty cool lick now that I think about it.

There are plenty more where those came from. You’ll just have to watch and see…

A Big Thank You to You

I can’t say this enough—thank you. Thank you for tuning in every week, for leaving thoughtful comments, for letting me know when something didn’t quite make sense, and for sending encouragement when it did.

Your feedback makes me a better teacher. Your support keeps this whole thing going. And your willingness to laugh along with me? That’s the cherry on top.

What’s Next?

I’ll be taking a little break over the holidays—eating too much food, playing some non-bluesy harmonica just for fun, and spending time with family.

But don’t worry—I’ll be back with the first video of 2018 on January 10th. And I’ve got a lot of exciting stuff planned for the new year.

Until then—relax, recharge, and enjoy the bloopers.

Conclusion: You’re the Best

It’s been an amazing year, and I’m truly grateful you’ve been part of it. Whether you’ve just picked up the harmonica or you’ve been playing for decades—I’m honoured to be on this journey with you.

So enjoy the harmonica blooper reel 2017—and remember, even your teacher gets it wrong sometimes. See you next year!
